56.56 North's founder, Richard Williams, is a highly respected and experienced financial services Chief Information Officer, having undertaken the role in both banking and insurance.
Following a career in the Army, successful entrepreneurship and at the heart of Government in the Cabinet Office, he culminated in financial services , as a CIO for the past thirteen years and being recognised four times in the CIO100 during that period. At the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) he combined the roles of CIO, diplomat and disruptor to make the case for, and then implement, its £200m digital renewal, transformation and sustainability strategy. He did this whilst helping guide the Bank through Covid and a war in the heart of its territory after the invasion of Ukraine. Prior to the EBRD he was the CIO for Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance.
He uses his experience as a decorated Army officer, a volunteer First Responder for the Ambulance Service and keen offshore sailor to bring some humanity and perspective to ever more complex technology and business challenges.
